Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh
Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (1956–2014) was a distinguished Nigerian physician whose courage and dedication saved countless lives. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to Professor Babatunde Kwaku Adadevoh (deceased) of the Adadevoh family of Anyako Royal House, Ghana, and the Crowther/Macaulay family of Lagos, Nigeria, and Deborah Regina McIntosh of the Nnamdi Azikiwe (President of Nigeria 1963-1966) and Smith/Wilkey families of Lagos, Nigeria. She excelled academically from an early age, attending Corona School, Queen’s School, Ibadan, and later earning her medical degree from the University of Lagos College of Medicine in 1980. After completing her residency at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), she became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and further specialized in Endocrinology at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London. For over two decades, she served at First Consultants Medical Centre in Lagos, where she rose to become Lead Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist. A compassionate doctor, devoted wife, and loving mother, Dr. Adadevoh was also active in the Nigerian Medical Association, Medical Women Association of Nigeria, and several professional and civic organizations. In 2014, her decisive action in identifying and containing Nigeria’s index case of Ebola prevented a national disaster, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to humanity.
